Friday Five!

Friends! I am having a beautiful week! I hope you are having a beautiful week! The weather is gorgeous, all the songs are making me feel all the feels, and all the friends are making my heart explode with love. It’s been one of those weeks where it’s easy to really believe that it’s true, that today (and then tomorrow, which becomes today, and then again and again) is the best of all the days:

So it’s with a smile on my face and a skip in my step that I bring to you the Friday Five!

Yoga & Consent

Loved this article on Decolonizing Yoga—(okay, okay, I love all the articles on Decolonizing Yoga)—about building a yoga class based on consent. The author (who is a yoga teacher) describes how she creates an environment in which her students can feel empowered to do things in their body that work for them. She also talks about the importance of being aware of the implications of physical assists. I definitely struggle with determining how much I should touch students in class and this article helped me think through things in a new way.

Fully Raw Peach Cobbler

Oh my gracious, this raw peach cobbler from Kristina Fully Raw sounds and looks incredible. I love all fruit cobbler/crisps/pies in the summer, and I think I will definitely have to make this.

More Reasons to Hate Whole Foods

Full disclaimer: I shop at Whole Foods. They have ALL TEH THINGS. But they treat their workers like garbage. There have been lots of stories about this, but the most recent is this incident in which two workers were fired for speaking Spanish to each other. Seriously? Ugh. Support your local co-op.

Lemony Millet Salad with Chickpeas

This sounds so satisfying! Millet, spinach, chickpeas, lemon zest. Ashley said she created this recipe with a focus on “simplicity and fresh flavors.” Love it.

Stuff From My Week That Made Me Happy

When the universe spoke to me through my yoga practice. (It said, move forward, and finally, I listened!)

When after subbing a yoga class two students approached me to find out when else I taught because they enjoyed class so much!

Learning to play the board game Sorry! with some great friends.

When my study-buddy introduced me to a new coffee shop that feels very ‘Minneapolis.’

Happy hours. Patios. Happy hours on patios.

The new Camera Obscura.

Having the luxury of getting to spend all of Thursday doing physical (and spiritual) exercise: morning run, afternoon power yoga, then evening sculpt class. Bam!

Sunshine, FINALLY, in Minneapolis!

Fresh cherries.

….and actually a ton of other stuff. But I’ll stop there, because it’s your turn!

What did you love this week? How do you feel about giving/receiving physical adjustments in yoga class? Do you shop at Whole Foods? Are you totally going to make that peach cobbler?

I am so glad to hear about your wonderful week – I can feel your peaceful calm and LOVE radiating thru the words. This week for me that made me smile: sunshine, overnight guest with bestie, hikes, green smoothies, surprise gift in the mail from friend, my recipe posted on MindBodyGreen.com, enjoying the sounds of birds during the day and tree frogs at night, my health, my dogs, my husband and YOU! Have a great weekend! :)

Sounds like you had a great week too, Kibby! I’m glad to hear it. Congrats on the MindBodyGreen article! How cool! You have a great weekend too! : )

I think I just might have to make that peach cobbler, actually, despite having never made anything with peaches before (!!). My Friday Happy: fresh rhubarb and strawberries, crazy zucchini blossoms in our garden, sun today and outings on the horizon, and a full night’s sleep with nothing in the way of my 10 (!) am wake-up time. Ha :)
    Have a good weekend!

It was lovely to read your sparkly edition of Friday Five – my week has been tiring and stressful, so it was a treat to have some internet escapism and read your blog : )

The peach cobbler looks delish – but Im going to try making it with persimmons!

Awesome post Raechel! I read that whole foods article…super sad to hear that. I don’t shop there very often, but hopefully that doesn’t reflect every single store location. That lemon salad sounds super yummy! Have a great weekend!
