Friday Five!

Happy Friday! It’s been quite a week. Quite a couple weeks, actually. There are lots of exciting things in store. It’s all happening! I apologize for being a bit cryptic. Details to come!

foreshadowing.

foreshadowing.

In the meantime, enjoy the Friday Five!

Undercover in a Slaughter House

On the Media just did an interview with undercover journalist Ted Conover whose most recent story was about his time working in an industrial slaughterhouse. Not only does the interview cover some important questions about the ethics of meat production (oxymoron much?), but also delves into some interesting issues that surround undercover journalism.  Definitely worth a listen (and even includes a bit of Casey Affleck reading Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle!).

Ms. Fit Magazine

Ms. Fit Mag is a body-positive, LGBTQ-friendly, unapologetically feminist women’s health and fitness webzine.” What?! You had me at “feminist” and “fitness” in the same sentence. I love this, and am so excited to add it to my list of websites to read (maybe in place of some of those fitness sites that usually make me feel like crap).

Raw Food Smoothies and Elixirs

I got this free e-book copy of Vimergy’s Raw Food Smoothies and Elixirs book from a link on Rande’s blog, and I loved it so much I had to share it with all of you! Not only is it full of good recipes, but it has tons of educational information. I think it’s especially helpful to learn about the benefits of elixirs, and to get a rundown of what different superfoods and superherbs can add to liquid meals. Get your free copy here!

Strawberry Coconut Frozen Fruit Pops

Beth from Tasty Yummies is always full of amazing recipes, but I especially love her idea for frozen fruit pops. And if you’re too impatient to freeze them, you can just drink them as a smoothie!

Vegan Humor

I’m guessing a lot of you saw the Buzzfeed “19 Signs You’ve Been Vegan Too Long” article floating around. Most of it was funny, but I didn’t like how junk food-centric it was, nor did I appreciate that they implied one could ever be vegan for “too long.” That said, this stand-up still made me lol.

It’s funny because it’s actually not that true. In fact, I’m going to go prove it wrong by getting my fun on this weekend. ; )

Are you so excited to hear Casey Affleck read a book on tape? Are you stoked about that feminist fitness site?! Do you make elixirs? Did any of the Buzzfeed “19 Signs” ring true for you?

Have a great weekend! xoxoxo

Super excited about the Ms. Fit magazine! And, I need to learn more about elixers. I’ve been drinking the same smoothies for, oh my gosh, 5 years. Looking forward to your mysterious, exciting news.

Thanks for posting the link to the interview w/Ted Conover. People like him are doing important work that I’m afraid I could never stomach. It’s so important for that info to get out to the public, though!

I just subscribed to Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine and I’m interested in looking into the Ms. one, too. I’ve always been turned off by fitness blogs/mags but that sounds right up my alley.

Looking forward to checking out the Raw Food Smoothies & Elixirs!
