Thanksgiving Recap

I could say a lot about the loveliness that was my trip home to Cleveland, but this is a food blog, so let’s get right to the menu.

On Thursday, we celebrate with two sides of the family. The second meal was prepared almost entirely by me, Mike, and my mom. My Aunt Lorri made the turkey, and my Uncle Tom made some non-vegan mashed potatoes, but everything else was vegan.

We ate spicy greens, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, homemade applesauce, corn, roasted brussels sprouts, and stuffing. What a feast! Everything was delicious.

On Saturday, I went to my 10th (!) annual Vegan Thanksgiving that I share with some very dear friends. These are our hosts, Brian and Kimberly:

This is what we ate:

More spicy greens, roasted butternut squash, stuffed mushrooms, amazing pomegranate salad with tangy homemade dressing, Rochelle’s famous sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and (unpictured) homemade bread. This is Todd, the bread maker:

(#hipstersanta, right?)

It was a beautiful night. Amazing friends, amazing food….These things create the most special kinds of nights, don’t you think?

I hope you had a very special holiday weekend. <3

Did you celebrate Thanksgiving? What was on your menu? Do you have special traditions with friends?

Sounds like a really nice time. It’s great that you can get to see both friends and family for the holidays, especially if it means double the holiday! Friends and food all look awesome.

Oh I’m so glad you commented! Your blog hiatus + hurricane sandy had me all worried! (Is that weird that I’m worried about my blogger pal?). Anyway, yes, friends and food were awesome indeed!

post-script: hadn’t had a chance to catch up on blogs all weekend, so I just saw now that you have indeed returned to blog posts. : )
