As promised, this weeks Friday Five will be entirely Halloween-themed! And because there is too much goodness, you’re getting way more than five….
Halloween Whoopie Pies (GF, vegan, and almost totally sugar-free!)
Ricki is brilliant and I can’t wait to make these adorable treats!
Vegan and Gluten-Free Twix Bars
Growing up, I favored 3 Muskateers Bars, but Twix bars were a close second favorite. It’d be pretty amazing to taste something like that again in healthy-ish form! So glad Leanne created these!
Healthy Halloween Apple “Bites”
Angela’s adorable monster mouth treats are too cute. They’d be a great healthy snack to set out at a party, right?
Is that enough sweet stuff for you? Perhaps it’d be good to balance out all these treats with actual meals, eh? How about….
Roasted Cauliflower Frankenstein Soup
Forks and Beans soup recipe sounds easy and wonderful (basically just broth, garlic, cauliflower, and swiss chard!), and the serving idea is just too cute!
Green Goblin Smoothie
What better way to start a day that you know might include more sugar than usual than with a healthy green smoothie? Put it in a goblin cup and you will feel utterly theme-appropriate.
Okay, so there might be more to Halloween than food….
No-Carve Pumpkin Ideas
Remember when I said I wasn’t sure I wanted to participate in the wastefulness that is pumpkin carving? Care2 provides us with some great alternatives, and that way you can bake and eat the pumpkin after the 31st!
Reusable Trick-or-Treat Bags
Still going door-to-door to snag some sweets and/or have some kiddies at home that will be doing that on Wednesday? Best to use a reusable bag than a plastic one. We used to use pillow-cases when I was a kid, but Tree Hugger provides us with some fancier ideas.
Spooky Circuit Workout
Want some theme-appropriate sweats? I’ve been loving this workout ever since I saw it on Chelsey’s blog (courtesy of Julie’s blog). It’s pretty intense, (especially if you decide to do 3 rounds after a 4 mile run)!
And after all that eating and working out, maybe check in with your body/mind/spirit to make sure that you’re making all your decisions with love and mindfulness. <3
And don’t forget to buy fair trade, buy union, buy vegan!
What are your weekend-before-Halloween plans? Will you dress up? What was the best costume you ever had? What’s your favorite Halloween treat to make?
