So, I really dropped the ball on the whole Vegan MoFo thing. I mean, sure every post I’ve done has been about vegan food, but that’s sort of incidental. I haven’t even been diligent about posting the logo! I didn’t really pick a theme (which is so unlike me, because I love themes!) and I just got a bit lazy.
Hopefully this will make up for my neglect. Inspired by Lou’s musical Vegan MoFo, here’s a “Vegan MoFo Mix Tape” of sorts, full of vegan artists and/or vegan-related jams. Enjoy. : )
BDP, “Beef” (this got a shout-out from Bryant Terry during his talk!)
The Pretenders, “Brass In Pocket” (Chrissie Hynde is vegan, not sure about the rest of the band)
Barry White, “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” (Srsly, Barry White is a vegan!)
Propagandhi, “Apparently I’m a PC Fascist” (this is kind of amazing)
Youth of Today, “No More” (apparently the members were vegetarian not vegan, but (be warned) this video is like a PETA exposé, so I think they are allowed on the mix tape)
Sinead O’Connor, “Nothing Compares 2 U” (thanks for being vegan and giving me an excuse to play this jam, Sinead!)
The Smiths, “Meat is Murder” (Morrisey, you are the vegan-est of all the vegans <3)
Notable Mentions: Alanis Morrisette, Fiona Apple, Thom York, Earth Crisis, Moby, Bif Naked, Avril Lavigne, k.d. lang, Jonsi.
Well….that’s a bit of a motley crew, eh? Probably the least well-orchestrated “mix tape” I’ve ever made. (In real life, I’m kind of an amazing mix-maker, if I do say so myself). Hope you enjoy it, anyway. : )
What vegan musicians am I missing? Did music play an important role in your journey to veganism?
