WIAW + Cleanse Mash-Up [Video]

Happy Wednesday! I don’t participate in WIAW every week, but I love the new fall theme, so I couldn’t resist. Plus it gave me an opportunity to make a short video about the cleanse “mash-up” I’m doing right now. Basically, I combined three programs to make something that works for me. This non-purist, cherry-picking method may not yield “optimal results” (whatever that means), but I wanted something less intense for the fall, so this is what I did. : )

Here are the things I mention in the video:

And now, here’s what I ate following this cleanse-ish plan. Thanks to Jen at Peas and Crayons for hosting WIAW!

Morning, green juice. Lately it’s been romaine lettuce and carrots:

recycled pic. carrots + romaine. delicious and almost “creamy” tasting.

Meal #2, a hearty smoothie. This had berries, almond milk, flax seed, raw protein powder, spinach, and raw buckwheat groats for some staying power. I went back for seconds. Also, I like my smoothies thick enough to eat with a spoon.

Snack (not pictured). Raw carrots. These are my new go-to for afternoon snacking. I had 3 giant carrots. Non-baby carrots are more filling than you’d think!

Dinner. Sweet potato and greens with touch of olive oil and spices. Probably my favorite meal.

In the video, I note that the Detox 4 Women book recommends chocolate after dinner. I went the first five days without doing this because I wanted to break my dessert habit. For better or worse, my sweet tooth got the best of me and I’ve been indulging in pieces of this bar for the past few nights!

How were your eats yesterday? Anyone else ever mixed and matched different cleanse programs? Do you like to eat smoothies with a spoon?

A healthy muffin for breakfast, Protein Bar’s black bean / quinoa bowel for lunch, and a veggie masala burger for dinner, with apple slices, pretzels and raisins. :)

I like to mix cleanses too. Sometimes I’ll do a couple days of one, merge into the next and do a couple straight days of that. But I haven’t really done a cleanse in a while, though I REALLY ought to.
Buckwheat groats in a smoothie! Never heard of that! Did you soak and sprout them first? I like my smoothies thick…but drinkable :)

Loving you videos! So nice to see/hear you rather than just read ya know?

I love that you are cleansing YOUR way…. no 2 bodies are alike, so why should we all follow the same plan? Intuitive cleansing maybe?!

I like my smoothies to be super thick too- feels like dessert when you get to eat them with a spoon!

Good luck on your cleanse! I think picking and choosing from different approaches is a great idea- that way you end up with a plan that works for you! And ultimately that means you’ll stick with it and be more successful :)
