Happy Friday, friends! This was back-to-school week, and it came with a
shit-ton fair bit of stress. I’m not going to get into all of that with you now (partly because I’m going to attempt to thwart some of that stress by making time for a free guided meditation that I just discovered), but trust me when I say that I need to start practicing what I preach in terms of being on the yogic path of balance and harmony. Because right now, I’m not quite there. Eep!
Anyway, I hope your week was better than mine, and I hope you enjoy the Friday Five!

1. Blueberry Bliss Krispy Treats with Maple Icing
If you haven’t visited Jessica at Chockohlawtay, you must! Her creations are absolutely beautiful, healthy, and look crazy-delicious. These blueberry bars are particularly tempting, amirite?
2. Controversy Over Organic Foods
Did you see this floating over the interweb and news shows this week? A study was released saying that organic food is not necessarily healthier than conventional. This article from Alternet responds to this and adds more nuance to the conversation. A good take-away: “I’ll leave it to the PhDs and MDs to fight this out among themselves. As they do, I’ll keep buying (and growing) organic foods. Why? Because even if organic foods are not demonstrably better for my health than industrial foods, I know that organics are better for the health of other people – the people who grow our nation’s food.”
3. Greens, Sprouts, & Sweet Potato Salad
Greens? Goooood. Sprouts? Gooood. Sweet Potato? Gooood. Salad? Gooood. (Anyone know what hit 1990s sitcom I’m paying homage to with that intro?). This salad looks awesome. I want it in my belly.
4. Relaxing into chaos
I tend to find the Tiny Buddah website a little bit too hippie-dippie for my taste (which is saying a lot now that I’ve admitted to being so far gone that I might as well start buying patchouli), but visiting their site during this really tough week was actually really helpful. I especially liked this post on making peace with chaos. And it starts with this great Anais Nin quote: “In chaos, there is fertility.”
5. Yoga Battle
You may have seen this when I posted it on the RGK facebook page, but it’s worth watching again because it’s hilarious. There’s a slew of ‘funny yoga videos’ out there, but this one might by my favorite:
(Hahahahahahahahaha! I cannot stop lol-ing about this. Hilar.)
How was your week? What do you think about the organic food debate? Did that video crack you up? What are you up to this weekend?
