No official post today, but I thought I’d share some of the highlights from my 3-day trip to Chicago. For those of you who don’t know, I spent six overwhelmingly joyful years in Chicago as an undergrad and master’s student. I left to pursue my PhD in Minneapolis, but I miss the hum of Chicago’s electric air every single day. Going back to visit is bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Here’s some of what I did and, of course, some of what I ate. : )
One of the main reasons I planned the trip for this week was because Tender Forever was playing two shows. Because my friend helped book the show, I ended up getting to have dinner with her! My relationship to her music is pretty intense, so seeing her live and getting to, like, hang out with her, was ammmaaaazzzziiing.
I was staying with my friend on the Northside, and was stoked to find out that there was a juice/smoothie bar across the street. So the next day, I had juice before we went to yoga! Kale, lemon, apple!
This is the view from the Belmont train stop. I have a lot of good memories from that train stop…..
This is the ridic awesome salad I ate from Native Foods with my friend Emily. Mine had avocado, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, and mango. Emily had the Soul Bowl!
This is my BFF, Jacoby! We walked along the lake all day, and got smoothies and fruit from a local health food store for lunch.
