Apple Cinnamon Green Smoothie

Good day! Yesterday I surprised myself. Instead of making my beloved green juice, I felt inclined to make a green smoothie. This is a rare occurrence since welcoming the juicer into my life. There’s something really amazing about a fresh glass of green juice, but as I re-remembered yesterday, green smoothies are pretty amazing too! As long as I Popeye it up in the AM, I feel pretty content. (Popeye=spinach, get it?).

Plus this smoothie tasted pretty autumn-y, so that made me happy too. Matching the season—in what I wear, what I eat, and what I listen to—has always been very important to me. This is why I could never live in the south or the west…Not having four seasons would break my heart.

On to the smoothie!


1 small or medium granny smith apple

1/2 frozen banana

1 c unsweetened almond milk (I use the 40 cal Blue Diamond)

1 T cinnamon (I like a TON of cinnamon; you may prefer less)

1-2 t flax seed

baby spinach (as much as you can fit!)

2 ice cubes

Put all the ingredients in a blender or magic bullet (or magic bullet knock-off, which is what I use/love). Blend for about a minute. Pour into a glass, dash some cinnamon on top for garnish. Garnishing with nuts or coconut would probably be great too!

Drink. Feel the glory of all those green vitamins and iron making out with your body. Be a ninja the rest of the day. Ninja-chop any bad shit that gets in your way.

    I go back and forth between green smoothies and green juice. I love them both! But I’ve never put apples in my smoothies. I do juice them though. Thanks for the great idea. And thanks for sharing this at Raw Foods Thursdays!
