Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a lovely week, and, if you are into Valentine’s Day, that you did something heart-tastic yesterday! I had another really busy week—one of those weeks that makes you grateful for a weekend that isn’t full of too many plans. I realized that the last few weekends have been jam-packed, and although they were all full of super fun stuff (ice skating! yoga workshops! unicorn parties! dancing!), I am actually craving a quiet Fri-Sun.
And no better way to start the weekend than with the Friday Five! Here are five things for you to make, ponder, and watch. Enjoy!
1. Sun Dried Tomato Pesto
Love the sound of this recipe that I found on One Green Planet. Oil free, and full of veggie-goodness. Kind of has a more refined guacamole thing happening. Classy guac….Maybe perfect for an Oscar party next weekend?
2. Home Remedies
This is an awesome post from RAW Food for Truth. Tons of easy home remedies for all that ails you. And it’s likely all stuff you have hanging around in your kitchen. Bookmark this bad boy for the next time you have cold or flu-like symptoms.
3. Dining Alone
I loved this story on NPR about the difference between dining “alone” and dining in “solitude.” It features Deepak Chopra who suggests that dining alone can be a great opportunity to really appreciate and connect with our food and our self. I’ve yet to eat a meal
alone in solitude at a restaurant, but this makes me want to!
4. Raw Chocolate Cheesecake
I know Valentine’s Day is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy chocolate treats with red accents. And this raw chocolate cheesecake from Detoxinista has a secret ingredient: zucchini! Decadent dessert + veggies?! Sign me up.
5. “Fresh Guacamole”
Check out this charming film that got the Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short.
Do you ever crave quiet weekends? Do you make any of your own home remedies? Have you ever dined out “in solitude”? Are you brave enough for that zucchini cheesecake?
